Tack Cleaning Tips
Not just for aesthetics, tack cleaning is essential for the well-being of your horse & the longevity of your equipment
Properly maintained tack ensures a comfortable & safe riding experience for both you & your pony partner
Step 1: Start by removing loose dirt & dust with a damp microfiber cloth. Be gentle to avoid scratching or damaging the leather. Pay close attention to areas that come into direct contact with the horse (such as reins), as these tend to accumulate more sweat & grime
* Tip : inspect the stitching & buckles on your tack regularly for loose threads, cracking or fraying
Step 2: Choose a high-quality leather cleaner. Apply the cleaner with a damp soft sponge or cloth, working it into the leather in circular motions. This will help to lift away dirt & nourish the leather at the same time
* Tip : store your tack properly, away from direct sunlight, in a cool & dry place. Allow for air circulation to prevent mold growth
Step 3: Condition your leather! Leather dries out after over time, leading to cracking & stiffness. Monthly, apply a leather conditioner to keep the material supple & hydrated.
